European car database

This database cover 100% of cars sold in Germany since 1950-1970s to present, and 95-99% of cars sold in any given country of Europe.

Last update: 14 February 2024, including 3120 cars launched 2023 and 1522 cars launched in 2024. Most models are being added 1-3 months in advance, some electric/hybrid models are added even a year before deliveries start.

Big database

The big database contain a separate row for every variant and sub-variant of engine, transmission, drivetrain, equipment level, etc.

Basic specs .xlsx (42 columns)
Full specs .xlsx (267 columns)
Alternative formats: CSV (full specs), database is too big to be imported in SQL (at least at my side)

Small database

These are filtered from the big database, having 1 row per nameplate, model and body style. Useful for customers interested in car dimensions which are the same regardless of engine or transmission. Car dimensions, weight and engines are indicated as min-max range.

Custom / partial database

Contact me for a quote if you want to buy custom selection of columns, makes, years, or body type. Custom subsets won’t let you download updates unless you ask me to send you updates, but are good for one-time use, for example to decide what used car to buy, or academic project.

Coverage

Passenger cars and commercial vehicles (LKW = Lastkraftwagen) up to 3.5 tons sold in Germany, the most diversified in the world. If a car is sold in Europe, it is sold in Germany too. I assume that this database cover 95-99% of cars sold in any given country of European Union and 90-95% of cars sold in United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey, etc.

Example of cars sold in (Eastern) Europe but not in Germany: old Dacia and Skoda models, some Lada models, Moskwitch, GAZ, UAZ, ZAZ, FSO, Zastava.

Oldest car included is Volkswagen Kafer / Beetle from 1946, most german brands are included since 1950s, other European brands since 1960s, Japanese brands since 1970s, American brands since 1990s. See SAMPLE file > Statistics Makes for number of models by brand and year.

New cars only include only rows with “model series end” empty, removing all models that ended production.

Electric/hybrid subset I added in 2019 once few customers told me that do not deal with internal combustion engines, but this seems to cause confusion now, some people thinks that first 6 packages are only for gasoline cars and contact me to ask if should buy 2 separate databases to get all cars. WRONG, original 6 packages contain ALL cars including electric ones.
