Earliest phones included are Ericsson models launched in 1994, but I guess that some early phone models are missing, as number of gadgets launched per year is significant only after 2003.

Indian mobile phones

This page has been getting significant traffic from India, with many people contacting me but refusing to buy above worldwide mobile phones database and asking me if I can create another mobile phones database with only models currently sold in Indian market. Job done in 2018!

I sourced data from 91mobiles.com, this website have 10 category of products, such as Tablets, Cameras, TVs, Home Theaters, Smartwatches, Washing machines, Air conditioners, Refrigerators, Microwave oven, but I do not intend to scrap all categories and create databases for each, because would take a lot of time to regularly update each of them, for their sale volume, they will become products sell-able only in India and we all know how little indians pay, if people from western world contact me if they are able to make a purchase, many indians contact me regardless they are willing to pay or not, and just few leads actually convert to sales.

In April 2019 I paid a programmer to make a custom scraper for 91mobiles.com that can get discontinued phones too, , but the file resulted is 150 MB full of spaces and line breaks and I am not able to clean it because while I can open with Excel, it crashes when I try to edit and clean it, due to file size.

It took 20 hours to scrap 18k phone models (compared with 1 hour to scrap GSM Arena’s 9k phone models), and because in 1 year, only 3 people purchased India phone database (compared with 20+ who purchased worldwide phone database), I decided to STOP updating this database, to focus on other databases with higher sale volume.

How the Excel phone database can be used

Filter the mobile phone database and get a list of mobile phones having specific features.
Filter the mobile phone table by year and make list of features introduced in each year of history.
Analyze data and make statistics what are the best phones in each price range.
Convert Excel spreadsheet to CSV, SQL, XML, JSON and create your own phone comparison website or mobile app.
Etc…

Actually I do not recommend using this database in making websites. Feel free to use it for research and analysis purposes. I am NOT responsible for any copyright troubles you may face if you use their data commercially, making own website, etc. This is NOT an original database “Made by Teoalida”, but rather a database showcasing abilities of data scraping, and the data belongs to www.gsmarena.com. Please consider the price a fee for data scraping service from website rather than author of data.

  1. Hi Teoalida, very impressive data collection! I’m interested in the mobile phones data for academic research. I was wondering a couple of things:

    1) do you know if there is any data available on HOW MANY UNITS were sold for each mobile phone model? Perhaps this can be counted based on how many times Android or other OS was installed, but at the model-level (not brand-level)

    2) Do you know anyone who compiles similar specifications data for semiconductor chips (non-mobile too)? In your mobile database, you do list the specific chips AND specifications for the chipset (which is helpful to me too!), but you don’t seem to have that information for the memory chips.

    3) Finally, I noticed that for your free sample for mobile, Ericsson was lacking information on its “platform.” Is this because the phones are from the 1990s and so info is not available? And are the “platform” fields mostly filled for phone models from the 2000s and on?

My friends may be interested in your auto data too! (I don’t study autos).
