Condominium 4 blocks S 136

I planned this condominium using AutoCAD to make it as big as possible while keeping under limit of 2100 wall segments. I made 4 identical blocks with 9 floors, floors 1-7 having 136 squares and 60 wall segments, floor 8 having 88 squares and 44 wall segments, floor 9 having 24 squares and 20 wall segments. total 1936 wall segments. Then I built half-height walls that do not count towards wall limit. Then I build foundation and pool that does count towards wall limit but can be built even after 2100 limit was reached. It took about 5 hours to build in October 2018.

Lot size: 6×5.
Lot facing: South.
Lot price: $502,094, unfurnished $473,684.
Floor area: 4256 squares + 1427 squares balconies (floor 1 is 136 squares, floors 2-7 are 136 squares + 40 squares balconies, floor 8 is 88 squares + 64 squares balconies, floor 9 is 24 squares + 64 squares balconies).
Pool area: 308 squares.

Condominium 5 blocks N 116

I planned this condominium using AutoCAD to make it as big as possible while keeping under limit of 2100 wall segments. I made 5 blocks with 8 floors, each floor having 116 squares and 52 wall segments. 52 x 8 x 5 = 2080 wall segments. Gate uses remained 20 wall segments. Then I built half-height walls, 24 segments per floor x 8 x that do not count towards wall limit, roof terrace with 66 x 5 half-height walls. Then I build foundation tall like one floor and pool that does count towards wall limit but can be built even after 2100 limit was reached. It took about 5 hours to build in September 2018.

Lot size: 6×5.
Lot facing: North.
Lot price: $493,962, unfurnished $470,612.
Floor area: each floor is 116 squares + 32 squares balconies x 8 floors x 5 floors = 5920 squares in total.
Pool area: 272 squares.
Expansions required: Apartment Life.

Palace of the Empire 6×5

Palace of the Empire is the biggest building made by me in The Sims 2, its overall shape is inspired from the Romanian Palace of the Parliament, which I also designed a realistic replica in The Sims 2, but by keeping number of windows to the real building, several people criticized it for having too many windows.

So, I wanted to make a new bigger building that does look nice in The Sims 2 and maximize game limits. I designed several polylines in AutoCAD that does calculate perimeter for each, adjusted the polylines to find the optimal shape to make the building to appear as large and tall is possible while keeping it under the limit of 2100 wall segments and basement + 14 floors (adding 1 more floor would cause game to crash).

The building is composed by the following shapes based on 5-squares grid:
4 floors measuring about 50×40 squares (50×42 with bays), 706 squares floor area, 298 wall segments;
3 floors measuring about 30×20 squares (32×21 with bays), 390 squares floor area, 170 wall segments;
6 floors measuring about 20×5 squares (20×7 with bays), 116 squares floor area, 58 wall segments;
1 floor having 2 rooms 4×7 squares, 56 squares floor area, 44 wall segments.
Total: 14 floors, 4746 squares floor area, 2094 wall segments.

Lot size: 6×5.
Lot facing: North.
Lot price: about $396,458.
Building size: 50×42 squares.
Floor area: 4746 squares.
Expansion needed: Apartment Life only.

But what if I do an even bigger building?

Once again I used AutoCAD to design polylines and calculate perimeter and area. This time making a very fat building without many bays.

Biggest building in The Sims 2 Biggest building in The Sims 2

The building is composed by the following shapes:
5 floors measuring 52×42 squares, 1308 squares floor area, 264 wall segments;
3 floors measuring 46×16 squares, 764 squares floor area, 128 wall segments (46×18 with bays);
6 floors measuring 14×18 squares, 252 squares floor area, 64 wall segments;
Total: 14 floors, 10344 squares floor area, 2088 wall segments (not including attics).

Lot size: 6×5.
Lot facing: South.
Lot price: $446,950.
Building size: 52×42 squares.
Floor area: 10344 squares.
Expansion needed: Apartment Life only.

The biggest theoretical building that can be built in The Sims 2 would be an octagonal building measuring 46×46 squares (4 straight sides 28 squares long and 4 diagonal sides 9 squares long), would make 148 wall segments per floor and 1954 squares floor area, 14 floors would make 2072 wall segments and 27356 squares floor area. But will be an ugly piece of shit!

The Imperial Tower

The Imperial Tower is a The Sims 2 optimized version of Empire State Building, because the game do not display in neighborhood view flooring above 150 steps from ground, had to cover building using a pitched roof. 15 floors is the maximum height possible using SetHighestAllowedLevel cheat, without crashing game. Sister building with Empire Tower.

World Trade Center

The Sims is a game meant to build houses, but I can also build a skyscraper… or two, the twin towers of World Trade Center, completed by Marriott Hotel and the 3 additional low-rise buildings. The development is unfinished, because is not really an useful building design in The Sims game, just for neighborhood decoration.

Apartment block

How does look a BIG BLOCK in the Sunset Valley? Too small in my opinion! This because of thew sprawl of all The Sims 3 worlds, too big spaces between lots.

Apartment-like block built for visual experiment. In The Sims 3 there is no cheat of building more than 5 floors so this is the tallest building I can make.

Lot size: 30×30.
Lot price: furnished $130.249.

Palace of the Parliament 6×5

I noticed that nobody build in The Sims 2 a replica of my country’s Parliament Palace, the second largest building in the world, after Pentagon, and largest administrative building in the world, so I made it by my own.

The interior is not furnished, except several ceiling lights added to take night shots. I do not know how to decorate a building of this size, too big even for being converted in apartment building, it is unplayable, due to its size the game runs slow like hell (at least on my computer, 2 fps at normal playing speed when entire building fits on screen).

Wall segments: about 1600 (limit is 2100).

Real parliament building

The real Palace of the Parliament is 270 meters long and 230 meters wide, 12 floors and 86 meters high, floor area of 340.000 square meters. A schematic floor plan can be seen on cdep.ro.

I counted windows and came with idea to design it in The Sims 2 as 48 squares long, 42 squares wide, 6 floors (about 18 squares high), to respect proportions. I keep correct number of windows, with a little exception: I added one more window at center on both axes, because the real building have odd number of windows on each facade.

I designed it symmetric, while the real building have slightly different north and south wings. I removed the central rooms because is not possible to make in The Sims 2 houses with courtyard, any enclosed space will be considered indoor even if have no roof.

Casa Poporului Palace of the Parliament Bucharest Romania

Condominium 4 blocks 198

Four identical tower blocks built around a little pool. Designed for aesthetic purpose only, somewhat inspired from Brazil buildings. During building this, I encountered the Limit of wall segments so I had to redesign the blocks thinner. The interior is empty, just 8 cheap lights per floor to take night screenshots. Made in 2013.

Lot size: 6×5.

Lot price: $424.322.

Peles Castle 6×5

This is the UNFINISHED The Sims 2 replica of Peles Castle, the most expensive building of Romania (valuated at 150 million euro, Bran Castle is only 60 million euro, Parliament Palace could be even more expensive but it was never valuated).

I designed it in 2007 after visiting the castle, using base game on a 5×5 lot, being distortioned to fit.

I re-designed it in 2010 using Apartment Life to get 6×5 lot and roof variety, but rear facade was a blank wall.

I improved it in 2013, after I found this Peles castle floor plan drew by Randwulf (I wonder how he drew the floor plan and how correct it is, since only a part of basement and the first floor are opened for tourists).

In The Sims 2 model, I did not followed internal floor plan, but only the external walls. The Randwulf floor plan helped me to guess how the building looks in its back facade.

If you feel being able to improve or finish it, download the .Sims2Pack file, edit it then send it back to me via email!

Peles CastleThe Peles Castle is about 80-90 meters long and is very complex building thus impossible to build accurately in The Sims 2. Also there is no footage available with back side of castle, I live in Ploiesti city, 64 km away from the castle. I visited it personally, visited museum inside, but outside many alleys are fenced and guarded, tourists are not allowed on back side.

Construction started in 1873, was inaugurated in 1883, as two 3-storey buildings but construction continued until 1914, period in which the two buildings were bridged (the Moorish room, left side of the main tower) and a 4th floor was added over south and east parts of building, the tower was also raised to 66 meters.

Consequently, floors of different height are mixed up and lots of internal stairs are linking split-level floors. Moreover it is built on sloped ground and on the north side of building the 3rd floor is opening on ground level. This cannot be done in The Sims.
